There may be some redness or swelling after treatment that will disappear within a few days to weeks. Patients may experience discolored skin in the areas that have been treated, but this typically fades within 2-4 weeks. Compression stockings should be worn for 48 hours after treatment to see optimal results. Typically, patients need 1 or more treatments depending on the severity of the veins. The treatment is painful and, in some cases, a topical numbing cream can be used prior for added comfort.
